Q: How are these width-wise for those not wanting the fore foot and toes to be squished? Also, do they have any room for an insole for extra cushion or should I size up?

Our sizes are listed as UK sizes, which are actually the same as Australian sizes! If you are a size AU8 then you will be a size UK8 in these shoes.

Based on the EU sizes of 41/42 being equivalent to a UK 8 this would be the most suitable size for you.

However, our Bridget buckled boots are of a tight fit, so usually we would advise to size up.
