I don't use the zip at all, just pull on over my head. The top part is lined, but the skirt is not which I love as it is so voluminous it is really airy to wear but not really see through. I wore it on holiday in Vietnam/ Cambodia in 33 - 38 degrees heat and it was great and also in the UK summer of 16 degrees with a cardi :) Compliments from strangers means you definitely have something flattering and with lots of yrs of wear.
